Black River Design, Architects is seeking to fill an entry-level position with designer and draftsperson responsibilities. 

This is a long-term career opportunity in a collegial, collaborative, design environment focused on leaving a positive impact on people and the planet through the practice of architecture.  As an associate staff member at BRD, you would have a direct impact on both the creative and technical sides of projects, helping to ensure high-quality, innovative, and sustainable designs. The successful candidate will have the ability to take the initiative and work efficiently within project deadlines to create, review, and coordinate design and construction documents under the direct supervision of professionally licensed staff.  

Typical Duties

  • Generate and develop conceptual design options and layouts
  • Accurately translate conceptual designs and redlines into the project REVIT model 
  • Measure and photo document existing building conditions to be modeled in REVIT
  • Coordination and integration of consulting engineer(s) work into the project design
  • Develop 3D renderings
  • Assist with development of construction documents sets
  • Contribute to project team progress meetings (provide ideas, feedback, sustainable design opportunities, etc.)
  • Support the project team in preparing for and attending client presentations/meetings 

Requirements

  • Professional degree preferred 
  • 0 to 3 years of Architectural office experience
  • Commitment to sustainable design
  • Effective written and spoken communication skills
  • Positive and collaborative attitude

Preferred Technical Proficiencies/Skills 

  • Revit
  • MS Office (Word and Excel)
  • Hand sketching
  • SketchUp
  • Revit compatible 3D rendering software
