ARE Testing Locations Now Available in VT
AIA Vermont has received notification that ARE Testing is now available within Vermont.
AIAVT has been in correspondence with NCARB since September to advocate for more ARE testing options within the state.
The Burlington Technical Center (BTC) in South Burlington is now available as an ARE test taking location. Due to a scheduling issue, BTC had previously been an option but did not appear as one when candidates were booking their exams. PSI has confirmed that the BTC site previously operated with reduced hours, which significantly constrained the number of available exam sessions. While the root cause of that limitation is still under review, PSI has worked with the site to extend its daily testing hours from approximately 3 hours to 4 or 4.5 hours. This adjustment has increased capacity, though availability will remain tight through March, with broader access expected to begin in April.
To ensure candidates have opportunities to test in the meantime, PSI has also established a temporary testing site at the Home2 Suites by Hilton in Burlington (see how it will look to scheduling candidates here). This location will offer additional ARE exam sessions on February 18th and 19th, and on March 16th and 17th, with six seats per session. These dates are intended to bridge the gap until expanded scheduling is fully available at the permanent Burlington test center.
We encourage affected candidates to check their PSI scheduling portal regularly, as these temporary sessions are now available to book. ARE candidates should schedule their exams with the NCARB platform. Find more information here: https://www.ncarb.org/pass-the-are/start/scheduling
Individuals need to be approved by NCARB and the State to be eligible to sit the exams. Once approved, they can schedule through their NCARB login.
Special thanks to AIA Vermont President, Andres Gutierrez and Vermont Licensing Board member, Rebecca Campbell, for their efforts to increase testing options for Vermont candidates.
