New AIAVT Members:

Michael Anzalone, AIA, E4H Environments for Health Architecture

My name is Michael Anzalone, I am 37 years old, a father, husband, and now an Architect. I have always wanted to become an Architect since childhood. In high school I took some drafting classes working with AutoCAD and once I graduated, I started my career as a drafter and surveyor. After a few years of working locally, I decided to further my education and moved to Boulder, CO where I received my undergraduate degree in Environmental Design. After graduation I worked for a few companies including one that allowed me to travel the US, drafting and surveying commercial sites. Eventually I became a project manager at this company and shortly after, I met my wife. Once my first child was born, we decided to move closer to her family in Berlin, VT. At this point, I decided to go back to school while working part-time to earn my Masters of Architecture degree from Norwich University as 1 of 2 students in their newly developed 3-year master’s track. During this time, I had my second child. These 3 years were the hardest of my life, but I made it out alive with a degree and a new job at Environments for Health Architecture. During my career I collected AXP credits which put me at an advantage, so a little over a year after graduation I was able to start taking the ARE’s. One year later I completed my ARE’s and applied for my license. Now I am an architect, and I couldn’t be happier with the choices that got me here.
