AIA Vermont Welcomes New Board Members

At the AIA Vermont Annual Meeting in December of 2019, AIAVT members approved by vote the addition of three new board members to AIAVT’s Board of Directors for 2020. 

AIAVT Welcomes Matt Bushey, AIA, TruexCullins Architecture & Interiors; Peter Kelley, P.E., DEW Construction; and Jeff McBride, AIA, Birdseye Architecture.

Matt Bushey

Matt Bushey, AIA, LEED AP ID+C, is an Associate Principal with TruexCullins Architecture + Interior Design in Burlington. He has been with the firm since 2006, when he moved back to his home state of Vermont after working for architecture firms in Boston and Cambridge, MA.  At TruexCullins, Bushey oversees workplace interiors projects, working with some of Vermont’s most creative and respected companies, most recently Seventh Generation and Vermont Sportscar. He also manages hospitality projects and is well versed in the intersection of hospitality and workplace design trends. Bushey earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. He has been the Chair of the Burlington Design Advisory Board since 2014 and serves on the DAB’s Historic Preservation Review Committee. With an eye toward 2030, Bushey is looking forward to collaborating with fellow Architects to help the profession meet our statewide sustainability goals. He currently lives in Burlington with his wife and two daughters.

Peter Kelley

Pete’s wide-ranging experience goes back almost 40 years, spanning the construction, technical, and telecommunications industries in Vermont. A civil engineer by training, he served in many managerial roles throughout his career, from project management to estimating to business development, earning himself a deep understanding of project analysis and planning. 

Since 2014, Pete has been the VP of Business Development at DEW Construction, responsible for the overall management of the business development organization. Pete serves as a key member of the leadership team that sets the company’s strategic direction while responsible for developing new business opportunities and managing relationships with clients, project managers, designers, brokers, and institutions. Pete serves on multiple boards currently, including Associated General Contractors of Vermont (Senior VP), Williston DRB (Vice-Chair) and Burlington Country Club (immediate past President). Born and raised in Burlington, Pete attended UVM (BS Civil Engineering 1982). Pete lives in Williston with his wife Cathy. They have two grown children who both live in the Boston area.

Jeff McBride

Jeff McBride is an architect at Birdseye in Richmond, Vermont. He has worked at Birdseye for five years, with an additional thirteen years of professional experience working at architectural offices in Boston and Washington DC. Jeff has taught at both the Boston Architectural College and Williams College and has sat for numerous design studio juries. He is a resident of Shelburne and has served on both their Development Review Board and Village Pedestrian Safety Group. He currently lives in town in a small house with his wife, two young children, and a golden retriever named Hopscotch (who is only marginally smaller than their small house).
