2025 AIAVT Scholarship Recipients Announced

At the AIAVT Annual Meeting event on December 4th, the recipients of this year’s scholarship awards were announced. The AIAVT Scholarship awards are made possible through the Hanne N. Williams Scholars Fund, which derives support from the AIAVT Annual Guy Teschmacher Memorial Golf Tournament, the Pella + Purpose program, the AIA National Component Matching Grant Program, and other sources. The winners of this year’s scholarship awards are: 

  • Robert Brady Award: One award per year is awarded to a Vermont State University student who has demonstrated excellence in their undergraduate work. This award is made possible with a matching grant from AIA. Chosen by VSU faculty, the Robert S. Brady Award is given to the sophomore student who has shown the greatest all-around academic achievement in the Associate of Science in Architectural Engineering Technology program. Robert Brady is a former AIAVT member and professor of architecture at VSU (formerly VTC). 
    • Architectural Engineering Technology student Mr. John Noe was this year's recipient of the Robert S. Brady Memorial Award
  • Ruth Freeman Award: One award per year is awarded to a Vermont State University student who has demonstrated excellence in their undergraduate work. Chosen by VSU faculty, the Ruth Freeman Award is given to the student in the ABET Program whose work in Architectural Design I has exhibited architectural design excellence. The award is given in memory of Vermont’s first female architect and president of AIAVT.
    • This year's recipient of the Ruth Freeman Award was Benjamin Brown. He is a sophomore in the Architectural Engineering Technology program. 
  • Norwich Honor Award Winners: Awarded to Norwich University students who have demonstrated excellence in their undergraduate work, this award is made possible with a matching grant from AIA. Winners are selected by a committee of Norwich University faculty members at the end of the Fall semester. The recipients are announced at the AIAVT Annual Meeting & Design Awards event each December.  
    • The 2025 Norwich Honor Award Winners are 
      • 2nd year:  Iris Ventura
      • 3rd year:  Hannah Bacon
      • with 2 honorable mentions (for 2nd year)
        • Rosemarie Nadeau
        • Gwen Rogers
  • The AIAVT Scholar Promise Award: Awarded to a graduating high school student who has been accepted or is a currently enrolled college student in an accredited architecture program in the United States. This scholarship is administered through the Vermont Student Assistance Corp (VSAC).
    • Tthis year's AIA Vermont Scholar Promise Award went to the following two students:

      • Gabrielle Holmes
  • The Norwich Thesis Best In Show Award, Sponsored by Pella: Awarded to a graduating thesis student from Norwich University who has shown excellence in their post-graduate thesis work. This award is given at the discretion of the AIA Vermont Board of Directors based on their review of the thesis projects at the close of the Spring semester. 
    • The 2025 Winner of the Best in Show Award went to Nate Simpson
    • Honorable Mentions included:
