Efficiency Vermont and the Patricia A. Hannaford Career Center/PAHCC in Middlebury are hosting a series of 4 Residential Building Systems trainings this fall at the PAHCC campus in Middlebury VT.

There will be two sessions of each training: a morning session from 9:00-10:30 and an afternoon session from Noon-1:30

Whole-Home Mechanical Ventilation - Design and Installation Fundamentals for Indoor Air Quality will be presented by Steve Spatz from Efficiency Vermont on November 17th, 2026

This session focuses on mechanical ventilation requirements for code-compliant high-performance homes, with particular attention paid to balanced ventilation design and installation. Participants will examine the limits of infiltration and natural ventilation, compare mechanical ventilation strategies, and review relevant code requirements. Emphasis will be placed on selecting, sizing, and integrating heat or energy recovery ventilation systems so that tighter building enclosures maintain healthy indoor air quality, occupant comfort, building durability, and reliable performance.
