Norwich University’s School of Architecture + Art continues this year’s lecture series with a presentation by Montpelier-based gbA Architecture & Planning at 4 p.m. March 18 in Chaplin Hall’s gallery.

This event is free and open to the public.

The firm’s partners, Tom Bachman, Gregg Gossens, Diantha Korzun and Steve Kredell, will share work that emphasizes creating community, collaboration, social responsibility and sustainability. The firm has operated for more than 30 years and has received more than 50 state, regional and national design awards.

Notable projects include community centers, affordable housing, libraries, food co-ops, socially responsible businesses and downtown revitalization projects. The studio’s mission is to create places that are beautiful, functional and affordable while strengthening communities and complementing the natural environment.

Their leadership includes significant representation in local, state, regional and national organizations including Montpelier Alive; the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Vermont; AIA New England, the National AIA Strategic Council; Burlington’s Design Advisory Board; Climate Action Plan Committee and Historic Preservation Committee; and Central Vermont Good Samaritan Haven Homeless Shelter.

A generous grant from the Jack and Dorothy Byrne Foundation, a philanthropic organization supporting cancer research, education, volunteerism and other charitable endeavors, backs the School of Architecture + Art Lecture Series. For more than 10 years, the Byrne Foundation and Norwich University have partnered to bring eminent national and international architects, designers, artists and writers to campus. Events are free and open to the public.

Norwich University’s School of Architecture + Art is the only National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB)-accredited architecture school in Vermont and one of only two in northern New England.
