AIAVT Furniture Design Competition

Gather your tools and discarded materials and prepare to build a one-of-a-kind piece. We’re saving our scraps from the landfill and offering hand-crafted, durable furnishings to Vermonters.
This year’s theme: free-standing illuminating device
Entries must use a majority of reclaimed, reused, and recycled material. This is an event for individuals or teams. There is no limit to team size.

A jury will score pieces on Creativity, Innovation, Aesthetics, and Functionality. There will be an overall winner of the competition and a People's Choice award winner.

June 1st – June 10th drop off entries to Montgomery Center for the Arts, 2 Moutnain Road, Montgomery Center, VT 05471
Options for drop off in Burlington may be available if your piece does not need assemply or setup.

Saturday, June 13th
1 pm – 3 pm Flip the Switch! Opening Reception for contestants and their guests.
3 pm Judges announce the winners
Show runs for three weekends June 13th -14th , 20th -21st , and 27th -28th
Pieces must be picked up by the end of the month.

50% of auction proceeds will go to the team or individual, and 25% will go to AIAVT to fund our events and programs, 25% will go to the Montgomery Center for the Arts to help fund their building restoration initiatives. Registrants will have the option to opt out of the silent auction.
