An Evening With Charles Renfro at Spruce Peak Arts
Date: 5/7/26 4:00 PM
Website: www.sprucepeakarts.org
Location: Stowe, VT
Spruce Peak Arts has been given the unique opportunity to host the American Opera Associations world premiere of The Post Office, which is the first foray into set design by Charles Renfro. Spruce Peak Arts would like to extend a very special invitation to members of AIA Vermont for an evening that we think will resonate deeply with your community. Given the very special nature of this evening, we are not affixing a price for this experience - we leave it to your members to make a donation to Spruce Peak Arts so that we can continue to support events such as this.
On Thursday, May 7th, we are delighted to invite AIA Vermont members to join us for a special pre-performance program:
4:00 – 5:00 PM — Private set tour led by Charles Renfro
An intimate walk through the design of The Post Office set — the thinking, the process, and the particular challenges and freedoms of designing a space for opera rather than occupation. Charles will speak about his journey from architecture into theatrical design, the conversations between built space and dramatic narrative, and what it means to design an environment for a story rather than a life.
5:00 – 6:30 PM — Reception at The Cottage at Spruce Peak
Join us for drinks, appetizers and conversation with Charles and the Spruce Peak Arts team in the warm surroundings of The Cottage.
7:00 PM — World Premiere of The Post Office
Return to the theater for the premiere performance before the production travels to Brooklyn Academy of Music.
This is a genuinely rare evening — a chance to engage with one of the most celebrated architects working today at the precise moment he steps into an entirely new discipline. We think there is no more fitting audience for that conversation than Vermont's architectural community.
Seating is limited to 50 total guests. To reserve places, please contact Linda Hunter at lhunter@ sprucepeakarts.org. If you care to make a donation, the link is below:
