Vermont Residential Energy Code Workshop

This 3-hour workshop on the Vermont Residential Energy Code is intended for builders, architects, realtors and other housing professionals, but is also appropriate for other motivated individuals intending to build in Vermont.    The workshop will provide attendees with the information needed to understand and comply with the code.  No previous experience with the energy code is required.

The workshop covers the origin of the code, describes which buildings and renovation projects are covered, and explains the obligations of the builder.  It covers all of the Basic Requirements (which apply to all projects) and explains the three methods for determining compliance with the overall Performance Requirement.  Builders may choose from approved packages, a simple software-based analysis, or a Home Energy Rating.  The reporting requirements are also covered.  Attendees are provided with a copy of the Vermont Residential Building Energy Code Handbook, along with contact information for the Energy Code Assistance Center.

Workshop instructor, Dave Keefe, is Manager of Standards & Training at Efficiency Vermont.  He has been an energy efficiency professional for 29 years and has delivered over 1000 training sessions for professionals and homeowners.
